여행을 하다 보면, 숙소나 열차 등에서 다른 여행자를 만나게 되는 경우가 종종 있다. 서로 국적과 나이, 성별, 많은 것이 다르지만... 타국을 여행하고 있는 이방인이라는 공통점이 매개가 되어 서로의 경험을 공유하거나, 관심사를 이야기 하기도 하고... 짧은 일정을 함께 하는 경우도 생긴다.
아래 대화 예문들은 한국에 관심이 있는 브라질 여행자를 만났을 경우와 Dan Brown의 'The Da Vinci Code'를 읽은 미국 여행자를 만나 파리에서의 여정을 함께 하는 상황을 가정한 것이다.
나중에 여행 중에 다른 나라에서 온 여행자를 만나는 일이 생기면, 그 동안에 갈고 닦은 영어를 활용해서 다양한 주제로 이야기도 나누고, 우정을 나누는 기회를 가지기를 바란다.
